‘Championship Gaming Series’ aims for young male demographic with hopes of following the TV path of poker and extreme sports.

The Los Angeles Complexity couldn’t overcome an opening 5-0 loss in the men’s “Dead or Alive” competition Monday night in “Championship Gaming Series” play and ended up losing 24-17 to archrival New York 3D.Huh?

DirecTV’s inaugural broadcast of a made-for-television e-gaming league at times seemed to be as much game show as athletic event. Stagehands called for applause after commercial breaks, and “ring girls” came onstage carrying the appropriate sports symbol — a soccer ball, boxing gloves or a starter’s flag — to signal the upcoming video game to be played.

More than 200 fans — most of them clutching thundersticks like those found at a baseball game — sat in bleachers inside a Manhattan Beach soundstage. Most clearly got into it, loudly encouraging their favorite team, which not surprisingly was Complexity. That was particularly true during the “Counter-Strike: Source” segment that L.A. won in overtime.

Yes, it’s again that magical time of the year when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us. Thanks Carol!

2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat-cutting machine and submitted a claim to his insurance company.  The  company expecting negligence sent out one of its men to have a look for himself.  He tried the machine and he also lost a finger.  The  chef’s claim was approved.

3. A man who shovelled snow for an hour  to clear a space for his car during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the space.  Understandably, he shot  her.

29 years ago today I stood on a lawn in Orangevale with my Grandma Sue and Jim Freeman and watched Dad and Kathy get married. Congratulations you guys!

Congratulations are long over due for John and Bridget over there at the Hay Barn. Their store is so cool. When we were there, my niece Madison was running around all cute and all and playing with baby chicks. I think it’s actually John’s brother that makes coffee in Hawaii though since I just grow tomatoes and what not. Man, we just ooze country these days don’t we yall? CLICK THE PIC! Thanksgiving at Aint Linders wouldn’t be complete without Johnna gettin all festive and what not. They always make me sing “Dear Penis”. But that ain’t what it’s called.
