Briareos as the “sea-goat” Aigaion
The sea-goat Aigaion “cannot be distinguished from Hesiod’s Briareos”, according to M.L. West; they are already explicitly linked in Iliad I.402-04, though they must have had separate origins:[3]

…the monster of the hundred arms whom the gods call Briareus, but mankind Aegaeon, a giant more powerful even than his father.”[4]
This episode, alluded to in Iliad (i.399ff), is found nowhere else in Greek mythology: at one time the Olympian gods were trying to overthrow Zeus but were stopped when the sea nymph Thetis brought one of the Hecatonchires to his aid, him whom the gods call Briareios but men call Aigaion (“goatish” Iliad i.403).[5] Hesiod reconciles the archaic Hecatonchires with the Olympian pantheon by making of Briareos the son-in-law of Poseidon, he “giving him Kymopoliea his daughter to wed.” (Theogony 817).

In a Corinthian myth related in the second century CE to Pausanias (Description of Greece ii. 1.6 and 4.7), Briareus was the arbitrator in a dispute between Poseidon and Helios, between sea and sun: he adjudged the Isthmus of Corinth to belong to Poseidon and the acropolis of Corinth (Acrocorinth) sacred to Helios.

In Virgil’s Aeneid (10.566-67), Aeneas is likened in a simile to “Aegaeon,” though in Virgil’s account Aegaeon fought on the side of the Titans rather than the Olympians; in this Virgil was following the lost Corinthian epic Titanomachy rather than the more familiar account in Hesiod.

DirecTV’s inaugural broadcast of a made-for-television e-gaming league at times seemed to be as much game show as athletic event. Stagehands called for applause after commercial breaks, and “ring girls” came onstage carrying the appropriate sports symbol — a soccer ball, boxing gloves or a starter’s flag — to signal the upcoming video game to be played.

More than 200 fans — most of them clutching thundersticks like those found at a baseball game — sat in bleachers inside a Manhattan Beach soundstage. Most clearly got into it, loudly encouraging their favorite team, which not surprisingly was Complexity. That was particularly true during the “Counter-Strike: Source” segment that L.A. won in overtime.

Shout out to House Of Fun.
I been poppin melons over there for quite a while and they’re all really good sports and a whole lot of fun. I’m pretty sure there is a majority of females among the admins over there which is interesting when you consider the low levels of whining. Ya gotta love a gal who appreciates a good spawning once in a while. LOL

I was searching for artwork to steal the other day and came across this gem so I added some animation and Voila my signature is born. Stay Low. Papa Melon

Oh Look!
The Church has baked a pie for the Warden.

I started working off my debt to society yesterday. I managed to get myself a lovely 6 days in jail for my second DUI in 6 years. Lucky for me I was saved by The Catholic Church. Instead of serving time in jail, I only have to work for the church.
So I got up bright and early, threw together a lunch box and hit the road (Literally) at 7:15. St. Patrick’s Church is only 20 minutes away from my house so I figured I’d walk. Besides, I can’t drive a car for 2 more years and I keep missing buses.
First thing Dude does is hand me the keys to the Riding Lawn Mower! I was in heaven as the 8:00 bells chimed and a choir of angels sang BeepBeep M BeepBeep Ya! Dude’s like “You know how to drive a mower?” and I’m all “Not sober…” LOL

I don’t think he got it but he still let me cut the grass. I even got to drive it on the street a little ways to get to the next gig. I wanted to take to the highway and never come back. But I finished mowing and had to do some more landscaping the rest of the day. Next week I may have to make a break for it.
